A 16-year-old student of the L’Aventure Secondary School, Canal Number One Polder, West Bank Demerara, was taken into police custody on Thursday after he was found to have in his possession a bullet.
According to a statement from Police Headquarters, a female teacher encountered a group of students being shown what appeared to be a bullet by the 16-year-old male student.
The bullet was seized and a photo of it was sent to the Head Mistress, who has military experience; she confirmed that it was a .32 ammunition.
Police said the District Education Officer was informed and the matter was reported to the police.
Subsequently, the ammunition and the student were then handed over to the police for further investigations. Police provided no further update.
