An ex-police officer who was attached to the Fort Wellington Police Station was among those killed in the early morning West Coast Berbice crash on Monday.
He has been identified as 61-year-old Hookumchand Parmanand of No. 36 Village, Corentyne Berbice.
The driver behind the wheel of the car was identified as 23-year-old Carlos Edwards of 39 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam.
A woman was also killed in the crash but her identity is not yet known.
The News Room was informed that Edwards reportedly lost control of his car during the early morning downpour and crashed into a lamp post and the fence of the GECOM office at Fort Wellington.
Investigations are ongoing.
