A 27-year-old security guard was on Tuesday remanded to prison for allegedly stabbing his younger brother to death during a heated argument.

Quincy Chase, of Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. Quincy, who cried throughout his arraignment, was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that on June 25, 2021, at Cummings Street, Bourda, he murdered Paul Anthony Chase, 24.

The Chief Magistrate remanded him to prison until July 22, 2021.

Facts presented by the court prosecutor alleged that on the day in question, the siblings visited their mother’s Cummings Street house for breakfast, during which Quincy and his mother got into an argument and he cuffed her to her left eye.

This led to a confrontation between Paul and Quincy, who was armed with a knife.  It is alleged that Quincy attacked his brother and stabbed him multiple times about his body.

The police were summoned to the scene and Paul’s body was removed from the house while Quincy was arrested.
