Suspected bandits caught with loot after robbing Reg. 10 businesswoman

Police in Regions Eight and Ten arrested three men on Saturday at the Konawaruk Junction in Potaro Siparuni hours after they allegedly robbed a businesswoman and her grandson of a quantity of jewellery, cellphones and other valuables at her grocery shop located near the Rockstone/ Mabura access road in Region 10.

The suspected bandits – a 29-year-old of Georgetown and two 25-year-old males of Linden – were found in possession of the stolen items at around 13:15hrs.

The three were riding two XR 150 motorcycles; a search was conducted and police found four yellow metal chains and a pair of stud earrings, along with one dark blue Nokia cell phone, a black Alcatel cell phone, a black Samsung S 7 cell phone, a dark blue Samsung J5 cell phone, and a dark blue GTT cell phone – all matching the description of the articles stolen.

A further search was conducted in a haversack belonging to one of the suspects where three bulky taped plastic parcels containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found.

“He was also told of the offence committed and cautioned where he admitted ownership,” the police report noted.

The suspects along with the stolen items were escorted to the Mahdia Police Station. They remain in custody pending investigations.
