Andrew Ridley called “Orin” was on Monday remanded to prison for allegedly breaking into a woman’s West Ruimveldt, Georgetown home and carting away over $70,000 worth in items.

Ridley, who was released from prison two months ago after serving three years imprisonment for robbery and assault, appeared before City Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus for break and enter with larceny.

He denied that on August 11, 2021, at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Ayanna McLean and stole cash, sneakers, textbooks, a haversack and a purse valued at $70,240.

The unrepresented man pleaded with the court for reasonable bail and told the Magistrate that this was his first time before the court.

However, police prosecutor Annalisa Brummel objected to the defendant being released on bail and told the court that Ridley is no stranger to the law since he was recently released from prison after serving time for similar offences.

The prosecutor also disclosed that Ridley is allegedly under investigation for discharging a loaded firearm and other serious crimes.

The Magistrate remanded Ridley to prison until August 30.

In 2019, Ridley was sentenced by city Magistrate Anneth Singh on two robbery charges, in addition to two charges for assaulting two police officers who attempted to arrest him. He was sentenced to a total of three years imprisonment.
