Upgrades totalling in excess of $5.5 million to an existing facility at Lethem, Region Nine (Upper Takutu – Upper Essequibo), will soon see the production of peanut products and dried fruits, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Monday.
Awarded to 3D Construction for $5,542,776, the facility is expected to further enhance the Guyana Marketing Corporations’ service to markets at the Dorms at St. Ignatius, the School’s Hot Meal Programme, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), the Karanbu Lodge, Local Shops and Supermarkets and Guyana Shops.
Further, it is set to provide direct employment and a market for farmers produce from surrounding communities in Region Nine, such as Quarrie, Katoonarib, Aishalton, Hiowa, Nappi, Shea and Moco.
