Two men, both aged 47, have been recorded as the country’s latest COVID-19 deaths. The Ministry of Health in a statement said the men died while receiving care at a medical facility on Sunday, August 29. The men are from Region One (Barima-Waini) and Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).
The latest fatalities take the total number of deaths to 613; 66 of those deaths have been recorded this month. Meanwhile, 80 new infections were recorded from 468 tests, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 25, 403.
The new cases were reported in the following regions; Region One (two new cases), Region Two (six new cases), Region Three (15 new cases), Region Four (38 new cases), Region Five (one new case), Region Six (five new cases) and Region Eight (13 new cases).
There are now 31 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 106 are in institutional isolation and 1, 740 are in home isolation.
Thus far, 22, 913 patients have recovered from the virus.
