A 62-year-old man from Region Six (East Berbice – Corentyne) is recorded as Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death. The man died on September 4, taking Guyana’s overall death toll to 641 and also means that, thus far, 16 persons died in September.
The Ministry of Health in a statement said the patient died while receiving medical care at a facility.
Meanwhile, 215 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Sunday from 1, 948 tests taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 26, 510.
Region Four accounted for 122 new cases while Region Three saw 59 new infections. The other cases were reported in the following regions: Region One (four cases); Region Two (seven cases); Region Five (seven cases), Region Six (nine cases); Region Seven (three cases); Region Eight (two cases); and Region Ten (two cases).
There are now 33 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 2, 269 patients are in home isolation and 125 are in institutional isolation.
To date, 23, 543 patients have recovered from the dreaded virus.
