Man claims soldier joined in raping his relative so he killed him & his girlfriend
Detectives have managed to make a huge break in the murder of Lance Corporal of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Daniel Fraser, 26, and his Barbadian girlfriend Sheniqua Hodge, 23, who were both shot dead execution-style in ‘B’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown on September 1, 2021.
The News Room was reliably informed that a 23-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon and reportedly confessed that the main target was Fraser, whom he accused of raping a relative of his (the suspect) earlier in the year.
The man claimed that Fraser and two others, including another GDF rank, committed the heinous crime.
The suspect reportedly told detectives that Fraser was always in the habit of “threatening and disrespecting him” after the incident and on the night of September 1, 2021, he saw Fraser at a shop in ‘C’ Field Sophia; he claimed that Fraser threatened him there.
The suspect said he went home, armed himself with a gun, and on his way back to Sophia, he saw Fraser and others crossing a bridge on their motorcycles heading in his direction.
The suspect said he shot at Fraser, dropped his gun and then ran away. The News Room was reliably informed that detectives confirmed a report of rape was indeed made against Fraser with the police.
The father of Hodge’s child, who was arrested initially, was released from police custody after investigators were able to confirm his alibi on the night of the murders.
The News Room had reported that Fraser and Hodge were imbibing at a shop in ‘C’ Field Sophia and at around 23:30hrs, they left to go home on Fraser’s motorcycle.
As they were heading west along last street ‘B’ Field Sophia, they were confronted by an unknown male who approached them from a northern direction on a bicycle; he discharged six rounds in their direction.
Police said Fraser received a gunshot wound to his chest while Hodge received three shots – one to the chest, one to her right knee and one to the right side abdomen which exited the left side abdomen.
Relatives claimed that Hodge is a resident of Barbados but came to Guyana to sort out her birth certificate to join the Barbados Army and was only here for about a month.
