Eagles rout Young Achievers to lift DVA League title

Eagles solidified their position as one of the top volleyball teams in Guyana, routing Young Achievers in straight sets to win the Demerara Volleyball Association’s 2021 League Championship by winning game two on Friday night at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

After taking a hotly contested first game 3-2, Eagles were riding high heading into game two of the three-match series.

The confidence from winning game one was evident on Friday, as they completely annihilated their opponents, in the process ruling out the need for a game three.

Eagles left the arena with a 25-18, 25-18, 26-24 victory that secured their hands on the coveted trophy and bragging rights.

Trevon McRae (14 points) and Kristoff Shepperd and Quacy Matheson with 12 apiece were the leading scorers for the champions.

Achievers and Eagles had earned the right to contest the final, after Achievers finished top of the League with 14 points, three more than second placed Eagles.

The other team in the League- Castrol Strikers- finished in the cellar position on five points.
