Destination Guyana is being touted as the ‘Home of nature, Land of opportunities’ at the massive Expo 2020 that opened on Friday in Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates.
The official opening ceremony of this Expo was held on Thursday and the country pavilions opened on Friday. Guyana’s pavilion is expected to showcase both the natural beauty of Guyana and the exciting business opportunities here. The overarching aim is to push Guyana’s tourism and business product to the more than 25 million expected visitors.
In between greeting visitors at the Guyana Pavilion on Friday, Chevon Lim, Guyana’s Commissioner General for Expo2020, alluded to the building interest in Guyana, stating that the Guyanese team at the pavilion was quite busy.
This expo was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed due to travel restrictions and other health protocols as a result of COVID-19; it is still being dubbed “Expo2020.”
And, the expo will run for 173 days, from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, featuring food, music, technology, art, science, culture, and numerous live events.
