E’bo bus driver who was abducted remanded for rape

Twenty-five-year-old Imran Khan who was severely beaten after being abducted on Monday last, was charged with rape on Friday.

Khan, a popular bus driver of Essequibo Coast, was remanded to prison until October 13, 2021 by Magistrate Christel Lambert at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court.

He was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that on August 29, 2021, he had sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16.

Khan was attacked at his Essequibo Coast house at about 19:30hrs on Monday last by two men; he said they tied him up, forced him into the trunk of a car, and took him to Essequibo Technical Institute Road where he was severely beaten and left to die. Khan was rescued by a passerby.
