Police on Saturday reported that five men and a woman have been arrested following the discovery of an air pistol and a large quantity of ammunition after swooping down on a Bourda Street, Lacytown property.
The search occurred on Friday at around 18:15 hrs. The police report detailed that the ranks acted on information and went to the property where they met the suspects gathered.
After stating the purpose of the intended search, a 19-year-old man identified himself as the caretaker of the property.
A search was then carried out with all the suspects present and police found a suspected air pistol inside a cardboard box in one of the rooms.
A further search was conducted and revealed “ten 12 gauge cartridges, thirty-one .45 rounds, fourteen .38 rounds and forty-nine M15 rounds in the kitchen area,” the police said.
The suspects were all told of the offence and cautioned; police said they all denied knowledge of the illicit items and were then arrested.
