A 77-year-old man from Region Four (Demerara- Mahaica), who is partially vaccinated, is Guyana’s latest COVID-19 death reported by the Ministry of Health.
The man died on November 19. With this death, there have been a total of 972 COVID-19 deaths recorded locally since March 11, 2020; 42 of those deaths have been recorded in November.
Meanwhile, a total of 89 individuals became infected with the virus over a 24-hour period. These new cases were recorded after 1,590 COVID-19 tests were conducted. This means that the overall number of confirmed cases in Guyana has increased to 37, 273.
These new cases were recorded in: Region One (four new cases); Region Two (six cases); Region Three (five cases); Region Four (34 cases); Region Five (two cases); Region Six (29 cases); Region Seven (two cases); Region Eight (one case); Region Nine (three cases) and Region 10 (three cases).
There are also 11 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 65 people in institutional isolation, two people in institutional quarantine and 1,844 people in home isolation.
Importantly, a total of 34,381 people have recovered after they were infected with COVID-19.
