    Guyana’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 1, 134 with four more COVID-19 related deaths recorded between January 20 and 23.

    Two of the persons who died were fully vaccinated, one was unvaccinated and the vaccination status for the other is unknown.

    With these latest deaths, a total of 79 persons have died for January thus far.

    Meanwhile, a total of 642 new cases were recorded by the Ministry of Health on Sunday from  2, 075 tests within the past 24-hrs. This means that 57, 227 people have tested positive for COVID-19 since March 2020.

    The following regions recorded new cases; Region One (37 cases), Region Two (31 cases), Region Three (83 cases), Region Four (251 cases), Region Five (cases), Region Six (72 cases), Region Seven (22 cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region Ten (78 cases).

    There are 19 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit, 175 are in institutional isolation and 13, 580 are in home isolation.

    To date, 42, 319 people have recovered from the dreaded virus.
