With West Indies three-match Test series against England set to start on March 8, opener Kraigg Brathwaite sent a warning to the visitors with a commanding 276 on day three of the second round of the Regional Four-Day game against Jamaica Scorpions on Thursday.

Leading Barbados Pride at the Kensington Oval, the West Indies captain soaked up 407 deliveries and struck 18 fours to hand the home franchise a solid lead of 193.

The innings was an exercise in patience, spanning 10 hours.

Brathwaite’s marathon career-best knock enabled Pride to declare at 521-8 in response to Scorpions’ 328. By stumps, Scorpions were 56-1, still trailing by 137 runs with a day remaining in the match.

It was the 25th time in First-Class cricket that Brathwaite has made a hundred to go along with 58 fifties in 180 matches.

Brathwaite’s score is the highest score ever by a Barbados batsman versus Jamaica in regional cricket and the seventh highest First-Class score at Kensington Oval.
