Teen remanded for murder of Venezuelan

Nineteen-year-old Shirakawa Jhaint was charged and remanded to prison on Tuesday for the murder of Venezuelan national Yocter Eduardo Gonzalez.

The teen made his appearance at the Diamond/Grove Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Judy Latchman. He was not required to plea to the charge and was remanded until April 4, 2022.

It is alleged that Jhaint fatally stabbed Yocter during a fight on February 19. Police Headquarters reported that the incident occurred at the Raghoo Sports Bar at the junction of the Soesdyke/Linden Highway.

According to reports, Gonzalez, his brother, and some friends were at the bar when Jhaint approached him and an altercation ensued, during which Yocter was stabbed to his right-side chest.
