Two men die from COVID; 78 new cases

Two men from Region One (Barima-Waini) – an 86-year-old and an 80-year-old, are the country’s latest recorded COVID-19 deaths.

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday reported that the 80-year-old, who was fully vaccinated, died on February 11 while the 86-year-old whose vaccination status is unknown, died on February 20.

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 since March 2020 is now at 1, 215; 44 of those were recorded in February.

Meanwhile, 78 new COVID infections were recorded from a total of 2, 229 tests.

The new cases were recorded in the following regions; Region One (eight cases), Region Two (five cases), Region Three (three cases), Region Four (37 cases), Region Six (four cases), Region Seven (four cases) and Region Nine (17 cases).

There are 10 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit; 63 are in institutional isolation and 752 are in home isolation.

To date, 60, 706 people have recovered from the virus.
