Police in Region Ten are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 19-year-old Anthony Monroe, an internet technician of Central Amelia’s Ward, McKenzie Linden, who was electrocuted on Sunday.
Police said the incident occurred at around 13:00hrs at Central Amelia’s Ward.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Monroe and another colleague, who are both employees of Re-Link Wireless Internet Service, were at the time tasked with the maintenance of internet service for a customer.
The colleague, Rylon Sandy, told police that they were in the process of installing a 38 feet metal pole into the earth’s surface at the western side of the yard. He said it was in close proximity to a few electrical wires.
Sandy claimed that the pole accidentally touched the electric wires causing both of them to receive an electric shock.
Monroe was immediately picked up by Sandy and rushed to the Linden Hospital complex where he was pronounced dead.
Police said the body was examined and no marks of violence were seen. The body of Monroe is presently laying at the De Jestco’s Funeral Parlor awaiting post mortem examination.
