Kellorn Crighton, aged 22 of Byderabo Road, Bartica, was charged with the murder of Alston Seon, a miner of Potaro Road, Bartica.
According to Police Headquarters, Crighton appeared at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Crystal Lambert on Wednesday where the charge was read to him.
He was not required to plead and was remanded to prison until June 9, 2022.
Seon was murdered after he reportedly attempted to stop a fight on May 8, 2022 at Third Avenue, Bartica.
Police reported that Seon was drinking beers with a friend and three Venezuelan women when the suspect approached his friend and began threatening him that he was going to “buss his throat.”
Police said Seon intervened and told the suspect to desist from what he was doing but the suspect then turned his attention to Seon and drew a knife from the waist of his pants before stabbing Seon to his chest.
