Adrian Anthony Persaud, the 26-year-old cane cutter of Bennett Dam, Rosignol who viciously stabbed his ex-partner on Saturday, has died by suicide.
This was confirmed by Police Commander for Regional Division #5 Kurleigh Simon, who told the News Room that the man died around midnight Saturday.
Persaud stabbed his ex-partner, a 21-year-old cook, several times while she was in a vehicle at the Sheriff Service station located along the Rosignol public road. He subsequently escaped.
The police launched a search for Persaud. When they visited his home, however, he was found lying in his yard, vomiting a ‘greenish substance’. He was taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital where he was a patient under guard.
Meanwhile, the cook is currently hospitalised in a critical condition at the New Amsterdam hospital. She sustained stab wounds to her right foot (below the knee ), her right side breast (lower and upper), one to her lower thigh and one to her right arm.
She separated from Persaud about one week ago. The News Room was informed that the woman and Persaud were living together for nearly two years but because of domestic issues, they separated.
