Police have recovered the nude body of 25-year-old Miriam Edwards who was murdered and dumped overboard at Puruni Landing in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
The News Room reported that residents apprehended a man who reportedly admitted to killing the cook after he robbed her of some gold.
Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told the News Room that the man was detained by residents after they discovered that the cook’s camp was ransacked.
In videos seen by the News Room, the suspect is observed tied up and appeared to have been beaten.
The woman’s sister posted on her Facebook page, “I can’t believe you gone and left us, my loving, caring sister.”
The sister also posted that she spoke with Edwards via video chat two days ago.
