A man died tragically on Sunday in an accident eyewitnesses say seemed unbelievable while being transported in the tray of a pickup truck.
The dead man has been identified as 56-year-old Lincon Moore, a labourer of Sandpit, Onderneening in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam).
The accident involved a motor pickup (GJJ 8947) which was driven by Bhojnarine Narine of Perseverance, Region Two.
According to reports, Moore was in the tray of the pickup heading to a sandpit in Onderneeming.
While going through the trail and as the driver approached a toll gate, he reported hearing a loud impact and immediately stopped.
He said he then saw Moore lying motionless in the tray with blood on parts of his body.
The injured man was immediately taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His body is currently at the Suddie Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The driver is in police custody assisting with investigations.
