Firearm stashed in food box found in empty lot as police probe shooting at city restaurant

Police ranks on Thursday searched an empty lot at Lamaha Gardens, Georgetown where they discovered a firearm with its serial number filed off.

According to Police Headquarters, acting on information received from an ongoing investigation in relation to a shooting incident in front of a popular city restaurant, ranks went to the empty lot which is completely fenced.

Police reported that the yard was searched at about 14:45hrs by ranks who found a black Glock19 firearm in a white food box which was in a black plastic bag.

The firearm was picked up and the magazine ejected which had no ammunition. It was taken to Alberttown Police Station where it was marked, sealed and lodged.

Police reported that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
