Rodwell Philips, who was found dead on the La Penitence Public Road on Monday, died from a stab to the heart.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on the body of Philips also called Fishie, a 33-year-old mason of Broad Street, Charlestown, on Wednesday by pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh.
He gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the heart.
The body has since been handed over to the relatives for cremation.
Police Headquarters reported that a cutlass was found next to the man’s body.
The incident occurred sometime between 00:30 hrs and 01:00 hrs. Several chop wounds were identified all over the man’s body.
Police said it was visible at the center of his chest, to the right side of his face, on his left side back, and to his left foot.
Hours after the man was found, the police issued a wanted bulletin for Alex Nedd in connection with the crime.
The Police said Nedd, 30, also of La Penitence Public Road is wanted for questioning.
He subsequently turned himself over to the police in the presence of an Attorney.
