A 22-year-old man and his 16-year-old accomplice were Monday remanded for the murder of Jude Christino, who was fatally stabbed during a brawl at Kumaka Water Front, Mabaruma, North West District (NWD).

Wayne Da Silva Called ‘Monkey Man’ of Hobo Hill, NWD, and the juvenile appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court.

Particulars of the charge alleged that the duo, on August 3, 2022, at Kumaka Waterfront, murdered Christino.

The juvenile was represented by attorney Bernard DaSilva, who successfully made an application for his client to undergo a mental evaluation.

The youngster was remanded to the Juvenile Holding Centre while DaSilva was remanded to prison.

According to a police report, on the day in question, at about 02:00 hrs, Christino, DaSilva, and the teen were seen arguing.

As DaSilva tried to run away, both males gave chase and started to beat him.

An eyewitness told police that one of the men then pulled out a knife and stabbed Christino to his neck, causing him to stumble and fall.

They both escaped in an eastern direction, leaving the victim lying motionless.

Police were summoned and Christino was escorted to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

DaSilva and the teen were later arrested and charged.
