Investigators are preparing to question him to prepare a case for the Court.
Ganpat stabbed Ramchandar, 25, of No.47 Village, East Berbice Corentyne to death on Monday as she was making her way to her cousin’s house on her electric scooter.
Police said the incident occurred at about 08:30 hrs that day when Ganpat, armed with a knife, stabbed the woman several times about her body.
Ganpat then escaped in a car. Ramchandar was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Skeldon Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
He has since confessed that he stabbed the woman out of jealousy after being told by another relative that she had moved on with another man.
