A century from opener Rampertab Ramnauth and an unbeaten half-century from Shamar Yearwood put Guyana in control against Jamaica on Day One of their third round game in the Cricket West Indies Rising Stars Under-19 Three-Day Championship on Saturday.
Playing at Arnos Vale, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, sent in to bat first, closed the day on a solid 281-6 from 89 overs.
Guyana got partnership right throughout the innings, but the highlight was a third wicket stand of 114 between Ramnauth and Yearwood.
Ramnauth scored 107 from 170 balls (11x4s, 2x6s), while Yearwood is not out on 86 off 194 balls (7x4s, 2x6s).
Opener Tomanni Caesar and skipper Alvin Mohabir made 19 each. Bowling for Jamaica, Alex Hinds has so far taken 3-53.
Guyana started the tournament with victory over Trinidad and Tobago, but lost to Leeward Islands in the second round.
