Collin Wishart, 50, died after reportedly hitting his head on a bedframe during an altercation with a 20-year-old relative on Sunday last. The relative is in police custody.
The incident occurred at about 14:00hrs at Well Road, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to a report from Police Headquarters, Wishart was behaving in a disorderly manner and even threatened to kill his older sister.
According to the 20-year-old relative, Wishart began hitting the walls of the house in the wee hours of Sunday, disturbing other family members and neighbours.
The young relative told police that Wishart continued to behave disorderly throughout that morning and then proceeded to attack the 20-year-old who was washing his motorcar.
The 20-year-old managed to bar the attack with his left hand.
Wishart allegedly started pelting his older sister with bottles when the 20-year-old pushed Wishart into his bedroom to calm him down.
The two then got into a fight when Wishart fell and hit his head on the bed.
After he became motionless, the police were contacted.
The body was examined and injuries were seen to the left side eye area, the upper left ear, forehead, and the man’s right wrist area.
The man’s body was escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital and subsequently to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The 20-year-old is presently in custody at the East La Penitence Police Station assisting with the investigation.
