Seventeen-year-old Stanton Garraway of Kairuni Village, Soesdyke died on Saturday in an accident along the Linden/Soesdyke Highway.
Police, in a statement, detailed that the accident occurred at about 14:25hrs in the vicinity of Silver Hill.
The accident involved motorcycle #CL 4409, owned and driven by Garraway and car #HC 5011, owned and driven by 50-year-old Augustine Klass who is also from Kairuni Village.
Enquiries disclosed that the 17-year-old motorcyclist was proceeding north along the western side of Soesdyke-Linden highway at a fast rate of speed while the hire car driver was proceeding east along the southern side of the trail which is located on the western side on the roa.
Police said Klass suddenly turned south onto the Soesdyke-Linden Highway and into the path of motorcyclist.
The front portion of the motorcycle collided with the right side front door of the hire car and as a result of the collision both the car and motorcycle were damaged.
The motor cyclist fell onto the road surface where he received injuries to his head and body while the car driver received injuries about his head.
Both of them were picked up in a semi-conscious condition by public spirited citizens and they were placed in a passing motor vehicle and taken to the Linden hospital where they were seen and examined by a doctor.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead.
Klass was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and was admitted a patient suffering from head injuries. He was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital were he was further seen and examined by doctor and was admitted a patient in the male surgical ward suffering from head injuries.
