A 20-year-old mother of two young children has succumbed to injuries she received after she was burnt by her husband with hot porridge two months ago.
Dead is Analee Gonsalves. The News Room understands that the woman died at the West Demerara Regional Hospital on Friday.
Regional Commander Mahendra Siwnarine said Gonsalves was hospitalised since the incident.
The woman’s husband, 24-year-old Ajay Persaud called “Nicholas”, was charged for attempted murder on Thursday and remanded to prison until October 20.
He made his appearance before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
Commander Siwnarine said the charge will now be upgraded to murder.
“Once we get the post mortem report, the charge will be upgrade to murder,” the Commander said.
Persaud, a joiner from La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara was arrested during an intelligence led operation in Region Six last weekend.
On August 23, 2022 at Parfaite Harmonie, Persaud threw hot porridge on his wife.
Gonsalves sustained severe injuries to her back, face and other parts of her body.
Persaud had escaped and was on the run until he was captured.
