The New Era Entertainment/ExxonMobil Futsal tournament in Linden will come to an end on Saturday (November 5) with the highly anticipated championship clash at the Retrieve Hard Court.
Achievers FC and Team Unknowns will battle for the title after emerging victorious in their respective semi-final game at the weekend. Achievers edged Team R9 10-9, while Team Unknowns topped YMCA 10-4.
For Achievers, Joel Isaacs was on target seven times, while Mickel Jeffers had a double and Tyrie McAllister a solitary strike. Omar Williams scored five goals for Team R9, with a double each from Jamain Kingston and Amanique Mayers.
Adrian Aaron led Team Unknowns with four strikes, while Jamine Beckles and Rian Hackel had a double apiece and Darrel George and Donavon Francis tucked in one each.
Shanual Jordon scored all four goals for YMCA.
The winning team of this year’s futsal tournament will be awarded G$500,000, second-place G$200,000 and third G$100,000. A trophy will be awarded to the fourth-place finisher.
A community improvement project involving the winning team will be undertaken after the tournament as part of the ExxonMobil sponsorship.
Action on the final night will kick off at 19:00h.
