Three years jail for man who broke into private jet at CJIA

Albert Rajram called  ‘Bunny’ was Thursday sentenced to 36 months imprisonment after he confessed to stealing a quantity of items from a private jet at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA.)

Rajram of Circuit Road, Timehri, East Bank Demerara was hauled before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Grove/Diamond Magistrates’ Court on two counts of simple larceny.

He admitted that between October 26-28, 2022, at CJIA, he stole a quantity of electronic gadgets, alcohol, and other items valued at the $2,160,000 property of Courtney Curso and Jason Johnson.

The unemployed man was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment for each count. Both sentences will run concurrently.

On October 31, Rajram was arrested by Police Detective Sergeant Kester Cosbert.

The News Room had reported that Rajram told investigators that he dug a hole under the fence of the perimeter of the airport and made his way onto the airport tarmac.

Afterward, he broke into the aircraft and stole several items including several Ipods and beverages that belonged to the victims.

A quantity of the stolen items was recovered at Rajram’s circuit Road home. He also took the police to another location where the other items were located.

The private jet had landed in Guyana on October 26 and was parked close to the hanger of the Guyana Defence Air Corps at the CJIA.

Reports are that when the pilots returned to the airport on October 28, to prepare their flight for takeoff, they discovered that the main door to the plane was breached.
