Days after 26-year-old Dharmini Prasad, a teacher of No. 72 Village, Corentyne, Berbice collapsed and died while on duty, an autopsy revealed that she died of a heart attack.
The autopsy conducted on Tuesday by Government Pathologist Vivekanand Bridgemohan detailed the cause of death as myocardial infarcation caused by a coronary occlusion and atheroma.
Her body was handed over to relatives for burial on Wednesday.
Prasad was on duty at the Skeldon Line Path Secondary School when she complained of chest pains. Between the hours of 08:00 am and 08:30 am, Prasad collapsed in the staff room of the school. She was transported to the Skeldon Public Hospital where she died.
