Jamaal Abrams, called “Gold Teeth”, a 29-year-old mason of Westminster, West Bank Demerara, was charged and remanded to prison on Friday for the murder of Sherwayne Underwood, a 32-year-old construction worker of Parfaite Harmonie.

The suspect appeared at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate’s Court via zoom before Magistrate Faith McGusty where the indictable charge was read to him.

He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison. The case was adjourned until December 15, 2022.

Abrams is accused of stabbing Underwood to death during a fight over the type of ganja one of them was smoking.

The men were drinking at Policeman Corner, La Parfaite Harmonie during the night.

After being stabbed, Underwood ran a short distance away before he collapsed.

He was picked up in a conscious state by public-spirited persons and rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he later died.

Abrams was later arrested and admitted to the crime.
