Police Headquarters Tuesday confirmed that a body found hanging in an abandoned house at Wismar, Linden is that of Leston Baynes, the 28-year-old truck driver who fatally stabbed Linden primary school teacher Kelly Charlotte on Sunday.

The Commander of Regional Police Division #10, Mr Hugh Winter, revealed that at about 06:40 hrs, Silver Baynes, a 54-year-old businessman of Wismar, Linden called the Wismar Police Station and reported that he received information that his nephew’s body was hanging in an abandoned house at Andy Ville, Wismar.

Shortly after, at about 07:00 hrs, Police visited the scene. A rank examined the body but no marks of violence were seen on the exposed part. The body was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex where Baynes was pronounced dead.

The Police were looking for Leston Baynes following the stabbing death of 22-year-old  Kelly Charlotte, a teacher of 790 One Mile Extension, Wismar, Linden, which occurred at about 21:15 hrs on Sunday night.

On Monday, Police Headquarters reported that Charlotte ended an abusive relationship with the man and opted to stay with her sister.

The sister told investigators that the suspect picked up their child at about 10:00hrs on Sunday and brought him back at about 21:15hrs.

Soon after the man returned the child, however, the sister heard Charlotte screaming and ran to the front of the house. There, she saw the suspect brutally stabbing her sister.

“The woman immediately called the police while the suspect made good his escape on foot,” police reported.

Charlotte was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex by police ranks but was pronounced dead on arrival.
