A Liverpool, Corentyne, Berbice man, accused of assaulting his ex-wife Karen Mickel, 45, over a period of 18 years, was arrested Tuesday by authorities in Berbice.
In police custody is Lyndon Richard Parks called “Lyndie”, 35, of Liverpool Village. A protection order is expected to be sought in favour of the woman.
Karen Mickel shared a relationship ship with Parks for eighteen years, but throughout those years, she was subjected to physical, emotional and verbal abuse. Mickel, who shares a 9-year-old son with Parks, had relayed that she mustered the courage to leave the abusive relationship in September 2022. Her separation did not sit well with the accused, and he has been threatening to kill her.
The woman said it got to the point where the accused found out where she was staying, stalked her, and cursed her out. It was just a few weeks ago while she was on the road, Parks confronted her and beat her mercilessly. He broke her phone, and the phone she said had lots of images showing injuries she sustained at the hands of him from prior assaults.
According to Mickel, a report was filed at the Whim Police Station and the Police visited the home of Parks but he was never arrested. However, according to the Regional Commander Shivpersaud Bhaccus, no report was filed by the woman but that a report has now been filed. She was given a medical form to visit the hospital and shortly after Parks was arrested. An investigation is underway.
