Andrew Ridley called “Aids Man” and his accomplice Akelow Marshall were on Tuesday remanded to prison for the murder of city businessman Shimron Adams.

Ridley of Campbell Street, Albouystown, Georgetown and Marshall of Independence Boulevard, East La Penitence, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The duo was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on December 27, 2022, at D’Urban and Chapel Streets, Georgetown, they murdered Adams during the course or furtherance of a robbery.

The Chief Magistrate remanded the men to prison until February 2, 2023.

The News Room had reported that Adams, 41, was shot and killed on the night of December 27; his gold jewellery and a shoulder bag with his day’s earnings were taken.

A ballistic test confirmed that a gun found at Ridley’s home is the same weapon that was used to kill Adams.
Three days after the murder, Marshall was nabbed by Police in Berbice.

Reports are that Ridley is the boyfriend of a woman who was at the business premises at D’Urban and Chapel Street during the robbery/murder.

The 29-year-old woman, who claims to be the dead man’s girlfriend, was arrested by patrol ranks who responded to the sounds of gunshots.

Police Headquarters in a statement revealed that Adams closed his business place at about 23:30hrs and while opening a shutter to leave the premises, Adams and the woman were reportedly confronted by the two suspects who ordered them to lie on the ground.

Adams was shot during a scuffle with the suspect armed with the firearm.

Meanwhile, Ridley was also wanted in connection with the November 11, 2022 murder of Dexter McFarlene of Laing Avenue, West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
