Mahaicony shooting: Cop was shot twice, fisherman shot three times – PME
Detective Corporal 31-year-old Dwayne McPherson, who was responding to a stabbing incident at Airy Hall, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara on New Year’s Day was shot two times, a post mortem examination has revealed.
The 20-year-old fisherman, Kishan Budburgh of Grove Huntley, Mahaicony was shot three times.
Both post mortems were conducted on Monday at the Bailey’s Funeral Home by government pathologist Dr Brijmohan revealed that both men died as a result of shock, haemorrhage and multiple gunshot injuries.
Budburgh was shot to three times to the left side body, while Detective McPherson was shot to his neck.
The Guyana Police Force in a release after the shooting said it has launched a “comprehensive probe”.
Detective McPherson, who was stationed at the Mahaicony Police Station and two other patrol ranks, were responding to a report of a stabbing incident at Airy Hall.
The Guyana Police Force would not release more details but said it intends to give regular updates as the investigation progresses.
At least two cops have since been arrested in connection with the shooting.
