City Vibes owner remanded for trafficking $3.5M in ganja

The owner of City Vibes Sports Bar, Clyde Barrett known as “Clivey” was on Friday remanded to prison by City Magistrate Leron Daly for allegedly trafficking $3.5M worth of cannabis.

Barrett of Albouystown, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on January 25, 2023, at the Avenue of the Republic, he had 11.58 kilograms of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was remanded to prison until February 24, 2023.

According to reports, on the day in question, ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotic Unit (CANU) intercepted Barrett’s car along Avenue of the Republic in the vicinity of City Hall.

His car was searched and a ‘salt bag’ containing several parcels of cannabis was found. He was arrested and escorted to CANU’s Headquarters along with the suspected narcotics, which tested positive for cannabis.

In 2018, Barrett was charged after 43 pounds of cannabis was found stashed in the kitchen cupboard of his nightclub.
