Narayan Ramdhani extends dominance in ACAC Tournament #3

Guyana’s top Badminton player Narayan Ramdhani continued his purple patch in Canada, topping the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles at the Alberta Colleges’ Athletics Conference (ACAC) Tournament #3 on Sunday at the King’s University, Edmonton, Alberta.

Playing for King’s University, Ramdhani matched his performance from the Tournament #2 where he won both the Men’s Singles and Mixed Doubles in Alberta.

In the ACAC Tournament #1, Ramdhani also won the Men’s Singles, extending his dominance from 2022 when he topped the Men’s Singles Championship overall and was awarded the ACAC Athlete-of-the-Year and All Canadian Award.

On Sunday, Ramdhani, seeded number one in the Singles draw, gained a bye to the quarter-finals where he played Shepherd Dow and won comfortably 21-3, 21-6.

He then disposed of Davis Wong 21-8, 21-8 in the semi-final to book a spot in the final against Sanskar Chopra.

In a close and competitive final, Ramdhani came out trumps with a 21-16, 21-18 scoreline.

Ramdhani also teamed up with his King’s University Eagles teammate Abby Ledda to win the Mixed Doubles category.

Meanwhile, Ramdhani received a token of appreciation from his coach Naeem Haque for his contribution to the King’s Badminton team for the past four years.

This latest competition was Ramdhani’s last on home court at King’s University before graduating this coming semester.
