The National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) will host its annual Mashramani tournament from February 24-26 at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
The event has 14 categories for boys and girls at the Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, and Under-19 levels along with the ‘B’ Class Open, Men and Women Singles, and Novices.
Several young players would be eying a return to competitive action given the packed schedule in 2023, and the Caribbean Senior Championships scheduled for March 20-25 in Guyana.
Inter Guiana Games in November was the last major competition and while at times, several of the top players would not participate in this tournament in order to give opportunities to the next generation, given the Caribbean Seniors are just a month away, this tournament could be an added bonus to preparation.
Seeding for all the events will be done based on results of placing in the last national championship or domestic competitions in the first instance, or according to international ranking if currently available for players who did not participate in domestic tournaments or the last rank of a player in the previous competition.
According to the GTTA, all entries must be made by 17:00h on February 22.
