Guyana Harpy Eagles and Jamaica Scorpions are locked in an intriguing battle at the close of day three of their West Indies Four-Day Championship match at the National Stadium, Providence, on Friday.
Chasing 458 for victory, Scorpions reached stumps 176-1, needing a further 282 for a come-from-behind victory on the final day.
Tevin Gilzene (81*) and Jermaine Blackwood (66*) have thus far added 166 for the second wicket after Leroy Lugg went for 10, caught behind off the bowling of Ronsford Beaton.
However, the day belonged to Tevin Imlach, who crafted a majestic 136*, his maiden First-Class century, that laid the foundation for the Harpy Eagles in the second innings.
Starting the day on 50, Imlach struck 14 fours and faced 217 balls that led the Eagles to 294-7 declared.
The former West Indies Under-19 player added 175 for the fifth wicket with Tagenarine Chanderpaul, who took his overnight score from 60 to 89.
Marquino Mindley grabbed 6-54 from 16 overs while the medium pace of Blackwood accounted for 1-41 from 10 overs.
With Scorpions needing 94 runs per session to pull off a record chase, the match is interestingly poised heading into the final day which starts at 10:00h.
