Guyanese batsman Kevlon Anderson on Thursday scored his maiden First-Class hundred, playing for the West Indies Academy side against Team Headley in the Headley/Weekes Tri-Series at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
The 22-year-old Berbician scored a magnificent 153 off 281 balls (22x4s) to guide the West Indies Academy to 323 all out, gaining a 64-run lead over Team Headley, who made 259 on day one.
Anderson, a former West Indies Under-19 cricketer who made his First-Class debut for Guyana Harpy Eagles this season, anchored the innings after Kirk McKenzie fell for an even-fifty.
The right-handed Anderson shared a ninth-wicket stand of 120 with Johann Layne to bat the Academy side into the ascendancy after they had slipped to 202-8.
That partnership ensured they secured a handy lead heading into day three of the four-day game.
Layne was left not out on 38 off 85 balls (5x4s), as Justin Greaves took 3-46, Marquino Mindley 2-47 and Akeem Jordan 2-77.
By stumps, Team Headley were 27-1, trailing by 37 runs.
