Randy Tello, a 36-year-old shopkeeper of Frenchman Backdam, Upper Demerara River, Region Ten was chopped in his face and other parts of his body by two men on Friday morning.
According to his mother, Rocclin Tello, he was preparing to leave the shop when two men, armed with cutlasses, pounced on him.
She believes the attack stemmed from a misunderstanding between her son and perpetrators over a woman.
The attackers reportedly accused Tello of dancing with a 19-year-old woman and they were upset about this. Tello’s mother said that was not the case and her son was wrongfully attacked.
Tello was rushed to the Mackenzie Hospital for treatment. Because of the extent of his injuries, he is being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The two attackers, Rocclin said, were apprehended by the Police.
I am so happy that the perpetrators were apprehended. After all, Justice must be served.
