Madramootoo spurs Demerara to historic Female U-19 Inter-County title


Demerara, led by a fine batting effort from Tilleya Madramootoo won both their games in the Guyana Cricket Board’s Female Under-19 Inter-County T20 competition on Friday to lift the title for the first time in a decade.

Playing at the Port Mourant ground, Demerara first defeated Essequibo by eight wickets, and then whipped home side Berbice by nine wickets.

In the first round on Thursday, Berbice defeated Essequibo by eight wickets.

Against Essequibo on Friday, Madramootoo made 52 as Demerara overhauled a target of 127, while she made an unbeaten 19 against Berbice in a modest chase of 59.

With the tournament now completed, the Guyana Cricket Board will soon name the national team to participate in the Cricket West Indies Regional Under-19 competition in Trinidad.
