A 34-year-old labourer was fatally stabbed on Wednesday night allegedly by a man who was assaulting his nine-year-old nephew at Ruimvedlt, Georgetown.
Dead is Dellon Waterman called ‘Puppi’ of Lot 2C Riverview, Ruimvedlt.
The incident occured at around 18:15 hrs. Police Headquarters said they are on the hunt for the 22-year-old male suspect. Several checks were made for him but he was not located.
According to the Police, enquiries revealed that Waterman intervened in an assault against his nephew and this caused the suspect to become angry.
As such, Police said an argument ensued between Waterman and the suspect and it escalated into a fight.
It is alleged that the suspect, who was armed with a knife, allegedly stabbed Waterman to his chest before escaping.
Waterman made his way home after which he fell unconscious.
The Police were summoned and Waterman was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
