One year later, businessman found guilty on cocaine trafficking charge

Businessman Michael Andrew Morgan who was charged with cocaine trafficking in June 2022, was Tuesday found guilty of the offence.

Morgan appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond Magistrates’ Court and though found guilty, sentencing was deferred to July 14 pending a probation report.

Morgan was charged back in June 2022, when CANU Officers discovered the cocaine at his residence located at Ixora Avenue, Eccles East Bank Demerara.

In a brief statement, CANU said it conducted an operation at the man’s Eccles, East Bank Demerara home where a quantity of cocaine and ammunition was found.

No other details were released by CANU.

It was subsequently made public that approximately 7 lbs. (3.27 kg) of cocaine was found.

The News Room understands that Andrew had been on CANU’s radar for some time and was being investigated for several drug deliveries.
