Queenstown, Charity, Dartmouth early winners in Essequibo Senior League

The Essequibo Coast/Pomeroon Football Association (ECPFA) kicked off its highly anticipated Senior League with an exciting first week of matches. Queenstown, Charity, and Dartmouth emerged as early front-runners, securing impressive victories in their opening matches.

In the first match of the scheduled Double Header at Multi-Ground, Queenstown FC faced off against Henrietta FC.

The game proved to be a tight contest, with both teams displaying their defensive prowess. However, Queenstown’s Romario Walcott stole the show, scoring a brilliant free kick in no the 20th minute.

Henrietta struggled to find the back of the net, allowing Queenstown to maintain a clean sheet and claim a 1-0 victory.

The second match of the opening day featured Charity FC taking on Tapakuma FC.

Akeem Norton, the captain of Charity FC, set the tone early in the game with a stunning free-kick from just outside the 30-yard box, giving his team an early lead.

Tapakuma fought back valiantly, and Babeto Holder managed to equalize in the 35th minute, resulting in a 1-1 scoreline at halftime.

However, Charity FC came out strong in the second half, with Akeel Abraham scoring a brilliant goal in the 42nd minute to put his team ahead.

Carlos Rodrigues added another goal shortly after, securing Charity FC’s 3-1 victory.

On the second day of the opening weekend, defending champions Dartmouth Dominators FC showcased their championship form with a 9-1 victory over Good-Hope FC.

Despite Good-Hope FC scoring the first goal of the match just 25 seconds in, Dartmouth quickly turned the tide.

Stephon Clarke scored an impressive hat-trick in the 13th, 55th, and 60th minutes. Marvin Garraway and Shamar Dawson added two goals a piece in the 31st, 35th minutes, and 26th, 40th minutes, respectively.

Ridley Williams and Martin Garraway contributed with one goal each in the 25th and 43rd minutes.

On Saturday, July 15, Charity FC will face Good-Hope FC in what promises to be a captivating match at 14:00Hrs.

Queenstown United FC will take on Tapakuma FC at 16:00 hrs.

On Sunday, July 16, Mainstay Goal Stars FC and Henrietta United FC will lock horns in a highly anticipated clash at 16:00Hrs.

Football enthusiasts can expect another exciting weekend filled with action-packed matches as the teams battle for supremacy in the ECPFA Senior League.
