Jerome Bernard, a 42-year-old labourer of Sophia, Georgetown was on Monday remanded to prison after he was charged for allegedly having 450 grams of cannabis in his possession.
Bernard appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court.
He pleaded not guilty to the possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking charge which was laid Contrary to Section 5(1)(a)(i) of the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (Control) Act, Chapter 10:10 of the Laws of Guyana.
Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned to November 1 for disclosure.
Bernard was arrested on August 31 after Police raided a Friendship Public Road, East Bank Demerara house which was under surveillance for some time.
